Re: Playback speed ultra fast
You are almost certainly trying to import a file type that Audacity does not support. Audacity Supports WAV, MP3, OGG and FLAC & MP2 in 1.3. The screech is Audacity 1.2's inelegant way of telling you that it can't handle the file type you've given it - in 1.3.x a more appropriate and informative...

Re: Play time of exported WAV file truncated
I was able to break the file into two parts by exporting selections of approx 240 mins each. However, what does the labelling function do? I've looked up 'label' in the Audacity site. I understand (I think) the idea of setting a label at a defined point. Does it act as a marker? And then how would ...

Re: Play time of exported WAV file truncated
Perhaps I have no choice but to save in mp3 (which appears to take hours). Or you could break the WAV files into chunks aof an hour apiece say -use the labelling function to create track labels ( CTRL+B k/b shortcut) at each break - and then use Export Multiple to create a set of WAV files. Note th...

Re: Separate tracks when recording
All you need to do is to place a label at each track break - use the Ctrl-B shortcut - and don't forget to place a label right at the beginning for the first track. Then use Audacity's Export Multiple command (available from the File drop-down) to export a multiple set of WAVs, MP3s or whatever. The...

You are probably making a "data CD" and not a "music CD"

Re: Doesn't Play Tracks!
you have two basic options: 1. find and use some converter software to convert your file to a type that Audacity supports 2. play the file in any music software that supports that particular file format and record it in Audacity. There's a free program called SUPER by erightsoft that can convert mos...

Re: mp3 reconversion - quality degradation?
Yes you will get additional degradation if you import an MP3 into Audacity and then export it again as MP3 - how perceptible this is depends on the quality of your equipment and your ears (age and sex are both factors here - young women have the best hearing typically). To break up an existing MP3 i...

Re: Deleted Temporary Files
Windows elf awake and on duty... Your only hope is that if the files are all still in your Windoze waste?Recycle bin - then you can restore them. You can select them all and restore in one click after that - you don't have to do them one at a time. If the files are no longer in wastebasket - then yo...
