ok so the WAV is good - I know you need 128, but just for an experiment try exporting the same project as MP3 at 192 and at 256.

In 1.3 to append to the end of your existing track just hit CTRL+R or CTRL+Record

My initial diagnosis is to suspect the USB connection. Can you try a different USB port - or failing that remove and re-inset the USB plug, or give it a gentle wiggle.

Having set the control points you can then drag the blue line down to decrease the amplitude. I think you can get a lot tricksier with the controls from a brief play/experiment I just did. I can't really advise further as I don't actually use this functionality for the work I do with Audacity. A pos...

If you are using 1.2.x then there is no counter - the counter was only introduced inthe Beta 1.3 (which is now faitly mature and stable).
