Re: WON'T LET ME EXPORT & SAVE AS .WAV IN WINDOWS MEDIA PLAY
There are several flavours of Export Export by itself should export the whole project as a WAV or whatever. Export Selection as WAV (or whatever) requires you to have selected a portion of Audio (use click&drag with your cursor), which then gets exported. The third and often most useful is the E...

Re: I just want to play the record through my computer
You can do this with Audacity simply by turning monitoring on. Just click once in the record level meters and monitoring will then be on - clicking there again will turn it off. This feature is normally used to preview recording levels prior to making a recording - but it will do the job you want to...

Re: clicks in audio
Just select the portion you don't want (use your cursor to click&drag to slect) and then simply press the Delete Key.
You may want to do a fade-in at the beginning (select a small bit of audio and used Effect > Fade In ).

Re: EXTERNAL SOUND CARD ADVICE BEFORE PURCHASE
.... The Geek Squad guy at Best Buy said it was because of the USB connection. He was skeptical that any external USB sound card would produce excellent recordings. Well he's talking out of his hat then ... It is perfectly possible to produce consistently good results with external USB soundcards -...

Re: Distortion level indicators - absent...
Audacity doesn't have real time overload lights -- lights that flash during the capture when you smack 1.0 (or zero dB if your on that scale). Yes it does - the record level meter has a red bar at the end if you have oversaturated the signal while recording. The only indication of overload I know o...

Re: Audacity Project Opens and Plays /w NO SOUND
P.S. I also noted the "Make a copy of the file before editing" preference. 'Sounds like the way to avoid this occurrence in the future. Jacob, absolutely - spot on. I have long thought that the default setting of "faster" is far too dangerous. Apparently the developers set it th...

Re: Noise shaping
Interesting Steve. Does this test mean that you think that Shaped is preferable to triangular. I have my dithering for High Quality Conversion set to " High quality sinc conversion " and " Triangle " at present (My Real-time conversion is left set at the default of " Fast si...

Re: Newbie Question - Garbled imported Audio
You should be able to get iTunes to create an MP3 copy from the AAC files for you, it may be a bit fiddly but it should work. I think the developers are working on an AAC interface for 1.3.x - I think that export is there in 1.3.8 but not working to well at the moment. And I don't know if the develo...
