Re: HELP!!!

Hi Kenny, Who the hell wrote these instructions? Oh wait..there aren't any!! The folks that wrote the instructions are the same kind of folks that wrote the software i.e unpaid volunteers who give up their free time to develop and support this software. Audacity is not a major corporation, with larg...

Re: label times missing in 'Edit Labels'

Yup this looks like a bug to me (just tested on 1.3.8 Windows XP-HE)- I will alert the developers. This behaviour did not happen in 1.3.7 (I just tested it) - so it has been introduced in the latest release. When investigating this I found it hard to find where the "Edit Labels" was locate...

Re: recording...acting strange, volumewise

Are you recording from a mic? If so dopes it have AGC (Automatic Gain Control - i.e.automatic record levelling) enabled? If so, turn the AGC off. Similar settings can be found in the Windows control panel - or the souncard management software for your particular soundcard. You have not really given ...

Re: Recording question

I'm a Windows Helper Elf - but I am an XP user (I avoided Vista on my latest laptop and insisted that Dell supply me with Winws XP-PRO instead).

However, this thread may help you out: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=797

Re: Sudden noise on Windows2000

The most likely cause for this is a poor USB connection. You are not plugging this in via USB hub are you? If so try using a direct USB input on your PC. If you are alreadty plugged directly try firstly removing and replugging the USB plug - or (gently) wiggle it in its socket. If that doesn't work ...

Re: Timer recording

There is a Timer Record feature which the developers have kindly added in 1.3.x - access by Track > Timer Record or the k/b shortcut Shift+T It does usually work well, just be a little wary - there is a known but inconsistent bug whereby sometimes the end-time of the recording is not honoured by Aud...

Re: Say, is there a cheap preamp with good SNR?

I use the ART DJ Pre-II - see http://www.artproaudio.com/products.asp?type=90&cat=13&id=109 . I feed the signal to my PC via an Edirol UA-1EX external USB soundcard. This combination produces excellent results recording from vinyl. Kozikowski, another regular contributor to this forum uses t...

Re: Brennan JB7 - any feedback

Is there any reason you're not plugging your actual iPod into these services? Hi Koz, cctually yes - the reason is that the JB7 supports a maximum disk size of 500Gb (The website says 320gb max - but you can order the bigger size on special order). This will enable me to load my classical collectio...
