Re: Smooth Cutting/Pasting
What does Repair do? What it does is to repair up to 128 selected samples. It does this by interpolating a waveform from the immediately neighbouring waveforms - and a fine job of it, it does too. As Trebor points out it does an excellent job of smoothing cuts/joins - and it works well on short dur...

Re: Help Files - which and where?
IIRC help files in 1.3.8 have only been provided for Windows (an possibly MAC) - but definitely not yet for Unixy version.

Re: Song Seperation
You definitely need to be using Export Multiple and not Export. (You could select one song at a tiemand use Export Selection - but that would be harder work IMHO.( Here is my workflow: Workflow to take Audacity Projects to AAC in iTunes 1. Record and edit the project in Audacity 2. Export as a set o...

Re: a new question about sample rate
I was referring to output as CD "standard" - not your input medium. I capture/edit at 32-bit floating 44.1kHz for transcription of LPs/45s/tapes, minidiscs and off-air FM - and if I still had any 78s ( I don't my parents chucked my collection out many years ago when I moved out :( ) ...

Re: save project
Just be careful - don't fall into the elephant trap that catches a lot of folks out. SAVE produces a stored copy of an Audacity project structure - hundreds or thaousands of little audio clips in a folder and a control file to manage the clips and the graphics. whereas EXPORT (to WAV or MP3 say) pro...

Re: Recording time again
Marc,
I would strongly advise gettting a second 1TB drive so that you can make two copies (see my cautionary tale above!).
I't's hard work getting all those recordings - you don't really want to lose them. And 1 or eeven 1.5TB discs are really affordable now.
