Re: Now what do I do?
You can doen load the up to date Audacity from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ Note carefully that if you wwant to use the "stable" version - then with a MAC the vesrsion you need depends on your particular processor. Alternatively you could opt for the latest Beta 1.3.8 (I would)....

Re: Normalize appears to be only doing one track
Hi Grant, I personally wouldn't bother with the Normalize - rather I would use the Audacity Amplify effect. I know that Numark/ION manuals recommend that you do Normalize but it really isn't a necessary step - and you only need to use the Amplify effect if your recordings are not loud enough. The pr...

Re: Echo Audiofire2 "Error while opening sound device"
IIRC this sometimes happens when you don't have the correct number of channels assigned in your Audacity preferences to match the channel on your soundcard.

clem, just be careful using those CD-RWs. My understanding is that not all CD decks will happily play those (try testing on a few different decks that you can get your hads on. WC "Waiting for the electrician ...." "towel, batth - border" eh? - now that takes me back a bit

Re: Track labelling
This is a known bug in 1.2.x - it has been fixed in the beta 1.3.x (it will not be fixed in 1.2). IIRC it's down to the use of lc z as one of the keyboard shortcuts. You could either upgrade to 1.3.7 or 1.3.8 (both pretty stable now) - or avod using lc z. My workaround in 1.2 was to use the uupper c...

Re: making audio CDs from Audacity files
i finally figured it out -- using Nero rather than iTunes... Yes that is a good way to go - I use Nero myself on one of my PCs (and RecordNow on t'other). Also make sure that the WAVs are always 44.1kHz 16-bit PCM stereo (which is, part of, the Red Book standard for CDs). Actually I believe that iT...

@rtpal1 For a start I'd turn off the metadata editor - go to Edit > Preferences > Import/Export and uncheck the box that says Show Metadata Editor prior to export step and then click the OK button. Thereafter you should't get the metadat editor dialog box appearing in export (personally I think that...

Re: A Variable-shape, multi-track cross fade plugin.
Dave,
thanks for this posting - I moved it to the Audio Processing section.
The 1.3 section is mostly for folks who have problems with beta Audacity. Your post is a processing extension so I think it fits better here.

Re: record level limited to 0.5 in mono not in stereo
Glad you got it solved.
Odd that though. I run an Edirol UA-1EX soundcard which I always leave connected to my desktop - and this runs fine with no problems (he says, hastily touching wood) when preconnected on boot-up and fire-up of Audacity.
