Re: Audacity or Reaper
When I record my guitar into audacity there's a delay between me playing and me hearing what I'm playing (recording) back using software playthrough. This is "Latency" - it's down to the processing time that your computer takes to handle the input signal. You bascically have two options; ...

Re: Audacity or Reaper
Recording and playing back what I'm recording at the same time would be extremely useful...I've come to understand that isn't possible in Audacity. True? Sure you can do that in Audacity - you just need to be careful that you don't make yourself a feedback loop. I do this all the time when I transc...

No he means t'other way aroundbob_e_s wrote:Think I understand. With Audacity you can add effects then remove them. With reaper you can add effects but they are permanent. I'm hoping to record most things with the effects already in place, so that doesn't really make any difference to me.

Re: Best audio preferences for exporting mp3s?
Is there a way to overlap tracks? I can't stand the mono version of Sgt. Pepper's crossfaded tracks Good Morning, Good Morning and Sgt. Pepper's Reprise, where the chicken cluck is supposed to merge with the guitar chord. The mono version has a very slight delay that causes the seam to NOT be seaml...

Re: How do I change the bitrates of many .mp3's at once?
But why would you want to do that in the first place?
300 music files is not that many and MP3 players an iPods have large "disks" available now - degrading the MP3s to 128 will give you what is generally regarded as the lowest acceptable quality for audio?
So I'm puzzled?

Re: save or convert aup to mp3
Listen to what Koz is alluding to - that the AAC compressed files in iTunes are generally held to have better audio size for size and bitrate for bitrate. I started out on Audacity making MP3s for my iTunes/iPod - but now I use AAC instead - I don't even bother with downloading the LAME plugin at al...

Re: Audio Disappered but still plays?
As Steve says, export some safety copy WAVs before doing anything else. What I think you may have done is to click in the vertical scale panel (which lives between the track itself, the blue waveforms, and the Track Control Panel on the left). If you hover your cursor over the scale box you will see...

Re: balance volume
Have you nudged the Pan slider (bottom slider control in track control box to the left of the track) from it's default centered position?
