Re: Help Required - I Am Complete Novice
PS The reason for this antiquated project is quite simply to reduce storage space of my partners vast range of tapes which have been accumulated over 40 odd years. Ian, Now you've confused me even more - this sounds as though you are making digital copies of old tapes - so you can play the stuff on...

Re: Help Required - I Am Complete Novice
I don't think you'eve bought the right device ! The ION Tape2PC is designed to, as its name suggests, transfer cassette tape recordings from tape to PC - not the other way around - i.e. to make digital recordings WAV or MP3 from the old analog stuff. The "normal" way of doing what you want...

Re: Same volume across all tracks
One way of managing this would be to use the Envelope Tool - this tool tlets you change the amplitude at different parts of an Audacity track. See this page from the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Envelope_Tool I'm sure there are other ways to achieve this too - maybe someone...

Re: Reduced length/duration of uploaded file
You are almost certainly trying to import a file type that Audacity does not support. Audacity Supports WAV, MP3, OGG and FLAC & MP2 in 1.3. The short file is Audacity 1.2's inelegant way of telling you that it can't handle the file type you've given it - in 1.3.x a more appropriate and informat...

Re: copy / paste issue?
Not clear from your posting exactly what you are doing. What you need to do is to create the 3 "layers" as separate Audacity tracks. You can then move any of the individual 3 tracks up and down the timeline by using the Time Shift tool - its icon is a little square button with a short blac...

Re: Missing items on tool bar
... I searched my file and could not find cfg ... I think that because AFAIK the audacity.cfg is a "hidden" file - so you need to set your Windows Explorer to show hidden files. In WE go to Tools > Folder Options amd select the View tab - and check the radio button that says Show hidden f...

Re: no sound
When you plug in a USB device like this your computer hands over control of all sound services to the USB device - both input and output. Since you USB device doesn't have a set of speakers, you then don't get any sound from the computer (not even the normal computer sounds). All you need to do is t...

so I could record as WAV using Total Recorder and then transform it to AAC? How can I do that? Using Audacity? See below the notes I prepared in response to an earlier similar posting WC ==================================================== Workflow to take Audacity Projects to AAC in iTunes 1. Reco...

Re: Cannot record properly
Use a CD ripper instead. http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/ Not always possible ... If your CD has ridiculous DRM (Digital Rights Management) encoding - then it won't play in a PC nor can it be ripped with a CD ripper. One of my CDs was like that, I only discovered long after I'd bought it when I tried...

Re: Project files of 1.2.6 and 1.3.9 compatible?
Okay, I am doing home recording; several layers for the different instruments, and until I'm done, I think I need the projects. Correct . This is a good example of where using projects is a good idea. Otherwise you have to export each track of your project separately to its own WAV file and then re...
