Re: Record speed
This may be down to a dodgy clock on your soundcard. I assume you are using the onboard soundcard, right? Most PC manufactures don't spenda lot on the sound services ( they basically provide the soundcard for the PC to go beep and make other computery noises -the're not concerned with high quality a...

Re: Recording but No Sound
Further update: I just had a look on t'interweb at the manual for the Grace Tape 2USB - on page 16 it shows the Recording device set to the Grace unit and Playback directed to the PC's sound services as I described above. However it doesn't appear to tell you to check the box that says "Softwar...

Re: External Interface compatibility
We're looking at options including a second mongo HD internal as well as an external HD for storage like one of these 1 terabyte jobbies. So THAT doesn't really need to be *fast* per se; just needs to hold a lot. Duane, a good plan - but I would recomend not just one of the 1TB jobbies - but two. T...

Re: Cut/Ctrl-X cuts too much
Have you got Snap To turned on - see the bottom right hand corner of the Audacity window (if it's on it will be ticked).
I that is the case, then uncheck it.

Re: Recording but No Sound
I assume this is a USB device - the Grace Tape2USB - right? If so ..... USB devices have a habit of hijacking the entire sound – output as well as input – and they don’t tend to have loudspeakers (hence “no sound”). What you need to do is to direct the Windows sound output to your PC's soundcard Con...

Re: How to improve recording quality?
If you do consider an external soundcard, then have a look at this sticky thread which has reviews of external souncards that we know work well with Audacity: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9477

Re: Recording Stero Wave Out mix
haha, sorry that was really obvious.. many thanks! My be "obvious" - but it sure catches a lot of newbies out - so don't feel embarrassed. Some of us would prefer if the default was 2 -channel stereo OOTB. Then we wouldn't keep getting this issue - and only folks who actually want to reco...

Re: Noise Removal Tool layers tracks?
If no tracks are selected Audacity appears to try to record to all tracks. If the number of channels to be recorded doesn't match the input settings then that error message is technically correct if a bit unhelpful. If you select one track then press SHIFT + R then it works. So, should SHIFT + R th...

Re: Noise Removal Tool layers tracks?
Don't try it if you have multiple tracks though - it will give an error message. Really? Which version of Audacity and what error message? V1.3.9 and it gives what seems to be a somewhat unrelated error message: "Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the ...
