Re: saved files as WAV - problem - Please help.
The reason the Audacity Developers are totally unaware of this is that they do all their development, testing, troubleshooting with the Linux version. They never bother with the Windows version, which the majority of users are working with. So never having used it, they haven't discovered this omis...

Re: Total Newbie - Please help
-How can you cut and paste portions of sounds to blend? Quck answer to your question 2: Editing 101 - basically you will want to: 1) Import each song onto its own separate track - use Tracks >Add New > Stereo Track to get a new track. 2) Edit each track down to the time portion you require. 3) Use ...

Re: Total Newbie - Please help
All other comments are welcome re:complexity of Audacity and if it is newbie user friendly. Well we all started off as Newbies at one stage or another. As you know Audacity is driven by a GUI (Graphical User Interface) - this is ientended to make life easier (but it doesn't always happen that way -...

Re: How to record from both chanels
In 1.3.x try Edit > Preferences > Devices and set Channels to 2 Stereo
Or in 1.2 Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O and set Channels to 2 Stereo

On both my PCs recording 60 secs gives a 60 second correct pitch recording with Audacity.

2) Laptop Dell Vostro 1710 with on-board Realtek souncard
So I'm still puzzled.

Re: File won't save?
I suspect you may be in Pause mode rather than Stop mode. Lots of stuff doesn't work when you are only paused.
BTW if this is a critical unrepeatable recording I would also suggest experting a safety copy as a WAV file (use settings 44.1kHz 16-bit PCM stereo).

Re: Total Newbie - Please help
You are almost certainly trying to import a file type that Audacity does not support. Audacity Supports WAV, MP3, OGG and FLAC & MP2 in 1.3. The screech is Audacity 1.2's inelegant way of telling you that it can't handle the file type you've given it - in 1.3.x a more appropriate and informative...

Re: numbers Lp one for one?
Record the whole LP, split it up into songs with labels - and then use Export Multiple.
