Oh, and carefully clean the heads and the transport mechanism (pinch-roller and capstan) before you start the transfer project. Over the years these tend to collect a lot of debris that delaminates from the tape as it passes through the heads and transport mech.

Re: Recording Both sides of Audio Cassette
Query 1 - How to make a 2 part recording with wave form graphics showing for both parts. I want to copy (record) both sides of audio cassettes that I originally recorded from vinyl. Most of these cassettes contain 2 albums by the same artist(s), one album per side. I want to start recording side A ...

Re: Recording Both sides of Audio Cassette
Query 2 - Burning 32 bit recording The Audacity manual states that some burners will only work on 16 bit. I have a new PC with a BD/DVD/CD burner which I assume will burn CDs from a 32 bit recording. How can I verify? Query 3 - Recording rate I assume I should record on 44,100 Hz. Is this correct? ...

Re: Measuring the frequency of a pitch?
luke see this ection of the Wikipedia article on dB: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decibel#.22Absolute.22_and_.22relative.22_decibel_measurements Briefly 0 is being used as the maximum signal level you can recird digitally in Audacity without clipping occuring: −6 dBm means 6 dB less than 0 dBm WC

Re: usb interface not working
Also make sure that you are plugging directly to a USB oport on the PC and not a USB hub.
It is sometimes better to disconnect all other USB devices when using Audacity - if you can't make sure that your TT is the last USB device to be plugged in.

Re: Acoustica Spin It Again??
It's obvious that the do-it-all turntables are low-end. Yup, most of the ones that I've seen are anyway. I started out with a USB TT for my transcription project - but soon junked it. The elctronics were fine but the platter was far too light and gave noticeable wow&flutter. Instead I resurrect...

Re: Acoustica Spin It Again??
Whatever software you use do you will need to: 1) Record/capture 2) Optional editing 3) Break into separate songs/tracks 4) Export WAV files 5) Burn music CD Audacity does all these things in a relatively straightforward way - and you can't argue with the price .... :) If you really want to cut out ...

Re: Windows 7 -fission turntable - noise removal
Like Bill, I too am a huge fan of Brian Davies' ClickRepair software. Note that Brian has also produced another s/w package called DeNoise (also availbla for an additional small fee - but also a 21-day free trial) for dealing with shellac and vinyl "noise". I have tested its use on a coupl...
