Re: What went wrong? Recover temp files manually?
Puzzled - but thanks for posting your test results - I'll give this a try when I get some time later this week. But I really think your boss is right - the "safer" option really is much, much safer unless you really know what your'e doing. In 1.3.x life gets a little easier as Audacity war...

Re: USB Turntable/Recording levels way too high
Yes panhardrod - but this only applies if using the RCA outputs from the TT into the soundard of the PC. If using the USB output from the TT - as per the original posting in the thread then the signal has been through the TT's onboard ADC soundcard and gets digitized with the volume set at that stag...

Re: Problem with Recording
@colemancol Does your TT also have RCA leads connected - if so make sure that these are not shorting i.e. touching each other or touching a common metal surface. Check that the pins are securely pushed home on the catridge - do this carefully . And also ensure that the headshell is properly attached...

Re: Files being deleted when exiting Audacity
I suspect that this is beacause the directory Audacity/temp that you have is where you have set as the location of Audacity's temp work files. In which case when you close Audacity it flushes out it's temporary directory contents (as it should) and this of course includes your WAV file. Just create ...

Re: NERO tells me...
@quaglian - this is really off-topic for an Audio forum - but ... I use Nero 9 - it processes for me files that I have im MPEG-4 encoding in H.264. They are obtained by recording witha Pinnacle Video Transfer device - they get an .MP4 file type. These files can be manipulated with Nero 9 and success...

Re: Sound will not play through
When you plug in a USB device like this your computer hands over control of all sound services to the USB device - both input and output. Since you USB TT doesn't have a set of speakers, you then don't get any sound from the computer (not even the normal computer sounds). All you need to do is to ge...

Re: What went wrong? Recover temp files manually?
The basic problem is that you probably didn't actually "import" the WAV file. There is a very dangerous, IMHO, default setting in Audacity whereby Audacity does not actually copy the WAV file in to the project, but rather relies on using it as an external source. (The developers set it thi...

Re: Screen Editing Metadata in Audacity 1.3.10
There's a lot of incompatibilities in Metadata with some tags showing up in one program and not (or incorrectly) in another. It's probably best to edit the metadata in whatever program you use most, so for many Mac users that will be iTunes, and for many Windows users WMP. Not just MAC users Steve ...
Re: LP to HD
I'm really worried about wholesale shipping people off to 1.3.10 when we know it has those export problems, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of options. Have you beaten up 1.3.11? Me too, which is why I still have 1.3.9 (on XP) for my real use for now - 1.3.10 is strictly for testing for me. WC
