Re: DVD-Audio

John, my WAVs are actually stored as 16-bit 44.1kHz. I started out that way as I was making CDs from my vinyl LPs and 45s (and that is the Red Book standard for CDs). I actually record and edit at 32-bit floating 44.1kHz and then downsample on export If I had thought harder about it at the beginning...

Re: Wave pattern in Audacity LP recording

if you take it in to the shop they should be able to supply a replacement belt which may also be a good thing at this point Yes the old belt may be a little stretched or a little brittle by now. If you are going to service it yourself then you should be able to find a replacement belt on t'interweb...

Re: Can Audacity record tv programmes?

Audacity is an audio recorder and editor - so it would only record the sound of a TV program and not the picture.

I use my hard disk PVR for original capture and then transfer to my PC with a Pinnacle Video Transfer device which records onto a clip-drive. There are many other ways of doing this.

Re: stereo or mono...thats the question

Lenny, Allistair's recipe is designed to get you the best possible mono recording with the minimum of noise. Koz' posting is basically about the same stuff - he is telling you that you won't get a true balanced mono recording due to physical differences in the track on the record and the response of...

Re: missing pieces true each track after recording

I tried: while i am recording and hearing it at the same time, the sound is good! So i can record ( step 1) Little steps: So it looks ok when you record - you see the wiggly blue stereo wave forms - yes? So having recorded, try playing it back in Audacity. Does that still sound ok? If that's ok the...

Re: Missing Selection From Drop Down Menus

Start off with reading this article from the Wiki: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... turntables

As it points out the manufacturer's instructionscan often be wrong (mine was when I had a USB TT)

Re: Recording into Pro Tools?

Yup - you just need to turn on monitoring - it's a well hidden feature and not obvious to find. Just click once in the recording level meter to turn it on (clicking again will turn it off). There is no visual cue to show whether it is on or off - apart from meters bouncing that is - so if you have m...

Re: DVD-Audio

Even if you never use them, it's nice to have WAV versions on a thumb drive in a closet. But you will use them ... As storage units get higher and higher packing densities you will want to use uncompressed music files. Who would ever have thought a few years ago that you could get a little single p...

Re: stereo or mono...thats the question

Plus Lenny, Allistair Bywater kindly gave you the following reply to your duplicate question on the Auudacity-Users email list, which I note (from your response in today's digest) that you find too complicated for you. Reproduced here to benefit other readers of the forum. WC =======================...
