Re: No sound (anymore...)
ok - so what happens if you try to play the WAV files with some player software like Winddows Media Player or RealPlayer etc. Do you then get sound from the WAV on your PC? I tried to re-install the software, but this didn't solve the problem. It seldom does - except in extreme circumstances. Though...

Try having a look at this page in the Wiki: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... turntables
Although this is primarily about USB TTs, the advice also applies to other USB devices like USB cassette decks and external USB soundcards.

Re: sounds great in Audacity, sounds bad in iTunes
I wouldn't bother with MP3 - I use Apple's AAC, I export WAVs and get iTunes to do the WAV to AAC conversion. Have a look at my workflow: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=18759 Don't use too low a bitrate for the AACs as that can cause poor qualirty Audio - iTunes deffault is 1...

Re: Sound Card Reviews
Edirol UK confirms that the UA-1EX is now superseded by the Edirol Cakewalk UA-1G . They tell me that the UA-1G has broadly the same functionality as the older UA-1EX but with some increased functionaliy: a larger more ergonomic gain control, and a specific guitar input for example. See this link: h...

Re: registration
Sorry but this forum only deals with Audacity issues - unfortunately you will need to persist with Cakewalk to resolve issues with their software. BTW what are you needing to do with Pyro that you can't do with Audacity? The only key thing that I can see from looking at the Pyro specs is CD burning ...

Re: Save as
Next time it does it, try a fully qualified pathname. Instead of Export > MySoundFile.WAV, try Export > C:Documents and SettingskozDesktopMySoundFile.wav. Ok Koz I had a similar failure just now - so I tried your Fully qualified pathname idea with a very simple filename: C:Documents and SettingsVin...
Re: Metadata
I can never be bothered with setting the global metadata in Audacity. Instead I manage the metadata in my player software (I use iTunes). I export the files as a set of WAVs, the trackname metadata comes across as the filenames set up in labelling - but the other metadata fields are empty on export....
Re: no sound
@jonemere: USB devices have a habit of hijacking the entire sound – output as well as input – and they don’t tend to have loudspeakers (hence “no sound”). What you need to do is to direct the Windows sound output to your PC's soundcard (on XP this is: Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Audio>Sou...
Re: Save as
Yes Koz, but the odd times it has happened to me I have had entirely "legal" filenames - I just can't make it reproducible, alas ...
