Re: Recording songs from myspace
What you get in the Mixer dropdown is entirely dependent on your soundcard and its associated driver software. And note that many PC manufacturers appear to be removing the ability to record what is playing on the computer (presumably to deter piracy). You can work around this by buying an external ...

Even the mighty NASA nearly managed to lose three astronauts in space once du...

Re: Workflow to take Audacity Projects to AAC in iTunes
I don't use Normalize - as in Audacity that acts on each stereo channel independently and can thus destroy/damage the stereo image. (could be useful though if you have a setup where the L&R signals are not equal). And on that basis I personally do not agree with the advice to Normalize given in ...

Re: Audacity doesn't record
USB devices have a habit of hijacking the entire sound – output as well as input – and they don’t tend to have loudspeakers (hence “no sound”). What you need to do is to direct the Windows sound output to your PC's soundcard Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Audio>Sound Playback - and make this...

Re: No Sound or Record after loading Audacity 1.2.6.
Frank, I can open all 3 of your attachments ok. A couple of points. 1) I see no blue waveform when you say you have pressed the Record Button You should see something like this in the attachment Recording.GIF 2) Your signal level into Audacity is way too high and you will be getting clipping. WC

Re: Re locating data files
As Bill says ... and for a bit more insight into the Audacity project file structure: When you save an Audacity project as <project_name> it creates a number of things 1. a top level master project file called <project_name>.aup 2. a folder at the same filing level called <project_name>_data 3. and ...

Re: Another sound card question
The input devices that you get are entirely dependent on the soundcard that you have and the associated drivers - it varies bt computer and by soundcard. Increasingly manufacturers seem to be removing the functionality to record what is playing on the computer (e.g. live streaming from the Internet)...

Re: Another sound card question
Ok - so the first thing to do is to ensure that you have the latest device drivers installed for that Soundcard. If you Google CONEXANT HIGH DEFINITION SMARTAUDIO 221 this should give you several sites where the latest drivers can be downloaded.
