Re: USB input level controls
Steve, the hardware part of the Xitel inPort that you have is a USB soundcard (DAC - Digital to Analog Converter). Does it have a volume control - or is it just controllable through the software sliders? Are you using it to record with Audacity - or are you using the Xitel supplied software? I assum...

Re: Cut off the empty part in mp3
Import it into Audacity then Select it by clicking an dragging with your cursor and then press the Delete key (or CTRL+K ) and the Export it again as an MP3 (just be aware that doing MP3 encoding on a recording that has already been encoded with MP3 will degrade the quality of the signal still furt...

Re: Bass reduction on recordings
The tape is quite old and it may be down to the deteriation of the tape. I know that the tape was not recorded with Dolby function, plus it is a home recorded tape from a record or CD. I am using a new ION Tape2PC unit which is connected straight to the PC. From looking at the image of your machine...

Re: How To Merge Many MP3 Files Into One?
Just use Audacity's Time-shift tool (icon is a little horizontal arrow with arrow-heads at each end) and move each track to its required location on the timeline. Then just Export the project.

Re: Truncate Silence crashes Audacity 1.3.10 on Mac
I agree - on Windows XP I use 1.3.9 for everythingkozikowski wrote:I use Audacity 1.3.7 for everything. 1.3.10 has serious export issues and may have other problems as well.
@arniec: you may want to get the latest 1.3.11 nightly build from here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... tly_Builds

Re: Splitting large mix into seamless tracks
I presume you are using 1.3.10 - in which there is a bug which rounds up such exports to the next 5-second boundary.

Re: Another sound card question
I record FM radio by feeding the outputs of my wife's old Technics FM tuner into the inputs of my Edirol UA-1EX soundcard and thence into PC and Audacity via USB - Gives excellent results.

Re: USB input level controls
Some USB TTs have a gain control (volume control) to manage the level of the signal output via the USB - and some do not - and you say that yours does not. Note that they are not always in obvious or convenient locations - I used to have an ION iTTUSB taht had a gain control underneath and at the ba...
