we can't get it to work at all on Vista, so had to downgrade to XP ... You can either use the Amplify effect or the Normalize effect - but note that they work slightly differently. Amplify will work on both stereo channels together - ampplifiying them by the same amount. Normalize will operate on each sterreo channel separately - raising them to the level you specify. ...

I have just used the timer to end a recording. Just before the timer expired I needed to extend the time so I hit cancel on the timer. What it did was to cancel the whole recording without saving it. This box is basically the electronic "gubbins" from an ION USB turntable - thise are known to work ok with Audacity - so your device should work too. I would still suspect the USB cable or plugs/sockets. Do you have an alternative USB lead you can try? Can unplug and re-plug the USB plus a...

Work on your on-board hard drive for active projects - when the projects are completed Export them as WAV files to the Maxstor and delete the project files from your onboard drive.

Just place your cursor in the gap between the tracks - and then use Generate > Silence

Remember I'm doing this on linux. Some of the stuff is for my wife, and will end up on her mac. I suppose if I were sufficiently motivated I could negotiate with her for her machine and set up to do everything through there, but that's probably not a recipe for success :) Aahhh, I see ... Broken cable? Busted plug?
