or a full-blown mini-proposal It would be a very short proposal page: "Use dBFS for amplitude, consistently." AH - but earlier you said it should probably be an option - which would mean a new pref or a new item on the Vertical Scale context menu - or both. We don't want to create a "...

Re: Change in the dB vertical scale of the tracks

Personally I think this is far more important than multi-coloured audio clips, pretty themes, or any other cosmetic improvements. I'd describe it as basic functionality that Audacity should have. Unfortunately it is quite tricky to implement, and not a glamorous feature. So do we need an ENH in Bug...

Re: Meter dB Range Preference not changing until I restart Audacity

Hi Mike, AH now I see why we were at cross purposes - thanks for those steps to reproduce and illustrations. I was looking at the meter toolbars anf thay change ass soon as you OK the preference change. Testing on 2.4.1 and 2.4.2 latest alpha I see what you see with the Vertical Scale not updating u...

Re: Why does "Graphic EQ" remove previous Envelope edit?

I changed this from a ENH enhancement to an actual bug in the bugtracker and upgraded it to P3, adding a Release Note and a Workaround:

Re: Change in the dB vertical scale of the tracks

If you change the Waveform to be Waveform dB view than you get a logarithmic scale in the Vertical Scale.

In 2.4.1 right click in the Vertical Scale yo get its context menu and select dB

I have another question too, though. Can you connect any 'usb' turntable to Audacity?
You should be able to - they should be what is known as "class compliant" - which means they should work with the basic USB drivers that your computer's OS provides.

Re: "Limiter" Effect has become very slow

See this bug thread: https://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1991

You will note from there that my tests show that not only have we fixed the "slower in 2.3.0" bug - we've actually improved the speed over 2.2.2.
