Re: Mixer input volume slider has no effect
when you plug in a USB soundcard then the USB device takes complete control over the sound input and sound level. You can't choose any alternative input from the drop-down box and you can't adjust the input (mic) slider - well not until you unplug the USB device from your PC. This normally isn't a p...

Re: Refusal to burn........
Norman you would almost certainly be much better off using one of the external USB soundcards which we know works well with Audacity - see this thread: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9477 I assume that you already have an existing turntable and cassette deck that you are trin...

Re: How to import a .pcm file from a dvd (OS X)?
Can you play it in a DVD player and then record it into Audacity? I know that means you are going Digital=>Analog=>Digital, not ideal but it should work. I lifted a song off a DVD soundtrack from a movie for my wife - it gave perfectly acceptable quality.

Re: Mixing Tracks Question
I think all is pretty much OK. Instead of SHIFT + Click to select multiple tracks, you can up or down arrow and ENTER. Ah yes, I never realized how you coulld select multiple tracks - but there remains an underlying problem with that: the visual cues are either wrong or inadequate. The first select...

Re: Downloading WAV files with artist and album title
Well personally what I do is to Export WAVs from Audacity and load those into my iTunes and get iTunes to convert them to AAC (AAC is reckoned to be better audio quality bitrate-for-bitrate than MP3 - so unless you need the platform portability of MP3 i.e. if you are not using an iPod for your porta...

Re: Mixing Tracks Question
in both 1.3 and 1.2 in order to make the Mix&Render or the Quickmix to work properly you seem to need to have all the tracks selected True in 1.2, but in 1.3 if there is nothing selected, the program selects everything by default. Ha ha - but not if you've turned that option off in Preferences ...

Re: Mixing Tracks Question
Yes but - in both 1.3 and 1.2 in order to make the Mix&Render or the Quickmix to work properly you seem to need to have all the tracks selected (use CTRL-A keyboard shortcut). This will then mix and render the project down to a single track. However if you select only a single track and then app...
