For video conversion I use a little gadget called the Pinnacle Video Transfer. This is a little device which connects to any video source via either Composite Video-in plus the two audio channels (using RCA plugs) - or via S-Video-in. Turntables do normally need grounding to avoid mains hum. They ususally have two thicker RCA leads for the signals abd a thinner black lead terminating in a spade connector for the earthing.
