Re: vinyl recording

Possibly (indeed most likely) a problem with the cartridge or the wiring in the TT. Make sure all 4 connectors are pushed fully and cleanly onto the pins on the cartridge - do this carefully , a air of fine-nosed pliers will help with this job. Make sure the head is sucured properly to the arm and f...

And why do you think Hollywood uses "clapper boards" when they are filming/recording?

Thats' right - for synching :)

Re: Problem in Multichannel Recording and playback system

@saviour2009 - the trouble is that very few of the posters use multi-channel - I don't think any of the forum elves do for instance. So essentiyll you are a pioneer in this area - that's why you're gettinmg so little response, sorry. There are a few references to multi-channel in the Wiki - try a se...

Re: How do I record sound from YouTube?

By the way, I am frequenting another forum (Waypoint, a Garmin GPS dealer in The Netherlands) that sends you an e-mail whenever a new contribution appears for your topic. Wouldn't that be a useful suggestion for this Audacity forum? Pieter, I have transferrred this suggestion to the Forum Issues se...

Re: Windows 7, no I/O tab under Preferences

I am a Windows elf - but not a Vista/W7 one, so have no experience with W7 (I insisted that Dell "downgrade" my new laptop to XP whn I bought it last year). Start off with a read of this sticky thread: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=16111 and this article from the W...

Re: weird playback

I would not use an external disk (probably not even a firewire one) to run Audacity. Rather do the capture and editing on your on-board hard drive - and then do your exports of WAV, MP3 whatever to the external drive. Oh, and do yourself a favour and buy a second 500gb drive so that you can keep two...

Re: How to Increase Volume?

Before exporting to MP3 - select the whole project with CTRL+A - and then use Effect > Amplify - Audacity will calculate a default based on the loudest it can go without clipping, so jus accept the default. Then do the MP3 export. But if you have load bits and softer bits - then you may need a compr...
