If I use option-g ( © ) as the first character in the Value field, it works.
OOH so it does too - works fine as well for first character typed in a field in my Mac with Edit>Metadata.

Thanks Bill,

Peter.

Re: Keeping Multiple Versions of Audacity Under a Single User

I use the .exe installer for pukka version installs ad Release Candidates - but zip downloads for all alpha builds. The alpha zips share the same audacity settings folder as all my earlier versions when I run them. I usually avoid the multiple copies of plug-ins (that Steve talked about) as I reset/...

Re: Keeping Multiple Versions of Audacity Under a Single User

I was wondering how to keep multiple independent versions of audacity (2.3.3, 2.4.1, and the current 2.4.2 RC) under one User Account on Windows 10. I know you can choose the directory that Audacity installs to in "Program Files (x86)" so I could have 3 separate folders for each of the ve...

Your method does not work for my Mac. Catalina 10.15.5
How do you try to generate the copyright symbol.

I use Ctrl+V/Cmd+V to paste having copied it fro a special Excel/Numbers spreadsheet I have for special characters and accented characters.

Re: Edit Metadata Tags

Repeating the same test on my Macbook Pro with Catalina 10.15.5 with 2.4.1 and the latest alpha test build I have for 2.4.2 I get the same results - the © symbol can be entered in a custom metadata field and properly used by Audacity. I can also 1) use the Template: Save... in Edit>Metadata to save ...

Re: Edit Metadata Tags

Testing with 2.4.1 on W10 1) I can use the © symbol in a custom metadata filed that I create in Edit > Metadata 2) And then when I export that metadata field is there and it contains the © copyright special symbol. If I then 3) close Audacity 4) relaunch Audacity 5) Edit > Metadata 6) Observe: my cu...

Re: Small skip at start of MP3

This issue is fixed for the soon to be upcoming 2.4.2 release. This is what it says in the "What's New..." section in the 2.4.2 manual MP3 exports and imports without padding Audacity now supports LAME's gapless playback info, allowing MP3s to be exported and imported without additional pa...

Re: How to be sure project is saved?

My favorite Conspiracy Theory has the Audacity Project format stressing the computer. I don't know of any other program that makes a storage system manage thousands of individual, tiny files in sequence like this. This is different from saving large files. I can imagine a hard drive armature gettin...

It seems that the macro issue of not properly using preset effects and not properly reflecting that the macros were running has been resolved. My macros do seem to be running fine.
And thanks Mike for that RC01 test report

Re: Macro Switches Track Focus

I did just read about focus vs. selection in the manual and I see what it means ... Hi Mike, good to know that at least some folk read the Manual. ... I don’t understand why you would need/use that feature. I’m sure there is a reason, but with my limited experience, I can’t think of one. Can you ex...
