Re: dithering question

Art,

note that you can change the type of dithering applied on downsampling - go to Edit > Preferences > Quality

and see this article in the Wiki: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Dither

Re: how to start recording in the middle of a song?

Just click your cursor in the existing track at the required start position anf d then click the Record bitton - recording should start on a new track at your cursor position.

BTW - you can always move tracks around later with ethe Time-Shift tool.

Re: Extreme distortion after exporting to Ogg

What is the VU meter? Is that the green meter at the top that shows the output volume? Actually the meter you're really interested is the red one which is the recording meter. You want to get a good level of signal while tou are recording - but what you din't want is for it ever to get right up to t...

Re: Recording in the same track

You can't do this in 1.2 - you will need to upgrade to the Beta 1.3 if you want to do this. In i.3 there is a new Appende Record function - the best way t9o activate it is via the keyboard short-cut SHIFT+R or SHIFT+Record The Beta is actually pretty stable by now - and in fact is often more stable ...

Re: newbie help please...not showing

Are you connecting the USB TT prior to starting up Audacity? If not you should do that.

Start off with a read of these tutorials: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/USB_turntables

and: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... iscs_to_CD

It may help if you tell us which USB TT you have.
