Sample workflow for LP digitization
Following a recent nudge from forum user theSeaHawk - I have today put up a draft of my LP digitization workflow process as a tutorial page in the manual under development for 1.3/2.0 - see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Sample_workflow_for_LP_digitization Feedback and comments that...

Re: Why is my input signal clipping?
I'd have a look at this ARTcesories device USBPhonoPlus : http://www.artproaudio.com/products.asp?type=90&cat=13&id=128 I actually use the ART phono pre-amp - the DJPreII - connevted via my external USB soundcard (Edirol UA-1EX). If I hadn't alreday got the Edirol I would stongly have consid...

Re: Info in Export Multiple
In 1.3 (I'm currently using 1.3.12 can't vouch for earlier versions art the moment) in the Export Multiple dialog box there is a box with selectable radio buttons called "Name files" the second one down says "Numbering before Label/Track Name" - check that one. But personally I'm...

Re: Horrible distortion when recording 12" singles
Thanks for the use-case bneptune (and glad you got it working ok). To summarize: it is usually better to have recording hardware that gives you somewhere in the recording chain a hardware device that offers control over the signal level. This is because it is not always possible to control the signa...

Re: Reverse RIAA curve
It gets even easier with the latest 1.3.12 RC2 (Alpha) version of Audacity - there is a new "Invert" button in the EQ effect - which enables you to easily invert any of the exisiting pre-set curves - including,of course, the RIAA curve. BTW just be aware that there is some discussion curre...

Re: Will this setup be okay & do i need to buy a soundcard?
Not true that all internal (dedicated) sound cards are noisy... yes there is a lot of noise and interferences going on inside the computer case, but that's also partially true for usb... I agree - my laptop's onboard soundcard (RealTek) works absolutely fine a tiny, tiny bit of DC offset - but soni...

Re: Click removal ignores some clicks
Now I have to decide whether to reverse the RIAA EQ on my early 50s LPs and 78s before or after doing the CR.... Yes you should do the reverse RIAA and then apply the proper EQ for each particular recording. See this tutorial I worked up recently (with a lot of help from previous posts on the forum...

Re: I have no sound on playback
I assume this is a USB tape device, right? If so ... When you plug in a USB device like this your computer hands over control of all sound services to the USB device - both input and output. Since your USB TT doesn't have a set of speakers, you then don't get any sound from the computer (not even th...

Re: Will this setup be okay & do i need to buy a soundcard?
... seems to me that if you have a turntable and mixer there is no need to buy USB TT ... I agree wholeheartedly. I actually started out with a USB TT the ION iTTUSB - after a short while I junked it as the very lightweight platter was giving far too much noticeable wow&flutter - most of these ...
