Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed

Well that ART USB dual Pre thingy was certainly worth the money - and those years of practice have clearly paid off. :)

And yes Koz, I too was thinking this was getting to be "Guinness Book Of Records" time for the longest thread in the forum ... good thread though.

Re: New Vinyl Getting Skips

Are you passing the signal from the pre-amp through an external USB soundcard - or are you going straight from the pre-amp to the Line-in on your computer and thus using the onboard soundcard? When you say you get a large blue line I assumne you mean you are not getting the blue wavy images of the w...

Re: Out-of-Phase click

If you repaired the highlighted portions, the click would go away. Or it would be smoothed out, depending on how you look at it. Interpolated, rather than smoothed - that is what the repair function is for. You can select up to 128 samples and then apply the Repair effect to that selection. Repair ...

Probably as Koz says because there is copy protection (DRM) buried in the file.

If that is the case then you should be able to play the file and record it in Audacity - not ideal, but workable.

Re: New Vinyl Getting Skips

WC - When I say there was no stereo I meant I had none in my head phones or Audacity. Do you mean no sound, - or no blue waveforms in Audacity? Regarding the gain trim, I couldn't get enough volume unless I set it all the way to the positive. The amount of gain you will need to apply in your case w...

Re: PVC Pipe Microphone Vibration Mount

In the UK on the R4 morning programme Today they recently had a running feature on things to do with the UK Post Offices red rubbber bands (that the posties discard in vast numbers and litter our streets).

No-one came up with anything as cute as a mic shock mount - like it 8-)

Re: spam problems

We have been discussing this with the board management - they plan in the nearis future to change the s/w that we use for the forum. When that happens we will be implementing a s/w anti-spam strategy to ctach such things in a more automated way. In the meantime there is a small team of us with reaso...

Re: New Vinyl Getting Skips

Wax - I bought the Artcessories DJ pre amp and set it up. I went TT to pre amp to sound card to lap top. The sound was good but I didn't get stereo. Then I tried to go TT - receiver (which has some issues) - pre amp - sound card - lap top. I didn't get stereo either :? well it's definitely a stereo...

Re: Loop possibility with "L" - to the developers

The Audacity support workers keep asking the developers to remove the "stable" word from the 1.2.6 version as on many modern machines the 1.3 version is more stable. Which indeed they did to some extent a while back on the main Audacity site - on the download page: 1.2.6/1.2.5 is listed j...

Re: audacity cant record from stream

Certainly you can try looping back your soundcards outputs to its inputs - you will not be able to monitor the sound while recording if you do that, but that may not be a problem to you. Another thing you might like to try is to see if there are updated versions of the divers for your soundcard - up...
