Are you using non alpha-numeric characters in the file-naem - 1.2.x is unforgiving about this (nor does it give yopu a sensible error message).

As Koz says - and my practical experience of the DVD burner in my laptop is that it can record good CDs too.

In essence I have a mono recording from vinyl but the left track (outside half of needle) is much worse than the right track... BTW unless you actually have a faulty record this implies that your catridge is incorrectly aligned - or there may be a faulty connection or electrical fault with the cart...

You will want to place labels in Audacity at the start of each sound effect (use CTRL+B ) - and then use Export Multiple to export a set of WAVs, one per soundtrack, at 44.1kHz 16-bit PCM stereo. You can then use these WAVs to burn a CD with CD burner s/w and then each CD track will have one soound ...
