Re: Audacity 1.2.6 and Exporting as FLAC
Ed, all you need to do is to select a format that suits you from the drop-down in the Silece Generator dialog box Just click on the little downward pointing black triangle in the dialog box and pick one from the drop-down list. The problem is thatAudacity does not appear to "remember" this...

Re: Help! Sound playback stops aftr several seconds all proj
You're not the first user to fall into this bear trap - and you won't be the last by any means. Actually it's normally the tidy ones who clean up like you who suffer the most. The underlying problem is that Audacity can be set to either properly import an external uncompressed file (like a WAV file)...

Re: importing from itunes IN STEREO?
You don't really want to be importing MP3, editing it and then re-exporting as MP3 - that way you will get two lots of MP3 compression damage in the finished audio file. Do you really no longer have the Audacity projects, or did you not export and back up fully uncompressed WAV files of the songs? W...

Re: Multi-channel TASCAM US-1641
... Reaper did use the ASIO drivers, and if Audacity can't, that creates a problem. Actually Audacity can use ASIO - but you have to build your Audacity with ASIO for yourself. I's basically a licensing issue rather than a technology issue. If Audacity were to bundle ASIO support then they would ha...

And this is a similar tutorial from the manual that is under development for 1.3/2.0: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Splitting_a_recording_into_separate_tracks You may find the other tutorials in this set in the manual useful too: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Tutori...

Actually it's only here on the Forum that 1.2 is still labelled "Stable" that was dropped a while back on the Adacity site down load page - see: http://audacityteam.org/download/ It is noticeable on that download page that the 1.3 Beta is now the "recommended" version for may mod...

Re: No Playback Sound
When you plug in a USB device like this your computer hands over control of all sound services to the USB device - both input and output. Since your USB tapedeck doesn't have a set of speakers, you then don't get any sound from the computer (not even the normal computer sounds). All you need to do i...

Re: Best settings for reel-to-reel to digital?
To some extent it depends what your target output is and how much processing you are likely to want to do won the recordings. If you are just making CDs or exporting WAVs or MP3s to play on a portable music player or your computer and not doing much processing like noise removal and amplification th...

Re: Carrousel CD Player Recording to PC
All of which begs the obvious question - why are you bothering to record your CDs rather than ripping them? There are several pieces of free software which will let you rip CDs. What format you rip them to depends on your application. If you are wanting to use an iPod you will probably want AAC - or...
