You have CD - a commercial CD - or one you mafde with MP3s on it? If it is a proper CD then you should be using ripper software to extract WAVs from the CD (there are several available for free on t'interweb - even iTunes can do this for you if you get its settings right). MP3 is a delevivery format...

Ok. Tried connecting the rca's to the line in jack in the back of pc and it sound okay. Still would be nice to connect it via the usb though. No clue as to why it sounds distorted via that usb port. Ed, I think the developers are trying to be helpful by offering you more options here :)

However if Audacity can be fixed so that it remembers your preferred setting then that should make it easier for you to use.

And some CD players are sensitive to the make of blank CD - I would certainly avoid using cheapo non-brand ones - and do not use CD-RW.

Personally I use TDK CD-R80 all the time - and they always play on my CD deck and in my car.
