Re: Distortion when recording from USB turntable

I just spoke with the guys on the ION UK technical support team - they tell me that there is no hardware gain control on the Ion iTTUSB05 and that you need to manage the gain level in software from the Windows sound control services. I can't tell you exactly how to do this in Windows 7 as I am still...

Re: Cannot get .wav file to play

You do not need to Save an Audacity project before Exporting - I often work on Audacity projects where I never bother to save a project at all just using Exports and then discarding the project when finished. Are you working in 2-channel stereo? Have you reset the Audacity 1.2 default to do so? If s...

Re: MP3 Bit Rate

Thanks for the clarification Steve.

And of course because the SDK is available FOC that is why one is able to build an Audacity with ASIO included for personal use only (and definitely NOT for distribution to others) at no cost.

Re: "Close" command exits app?

No I am a Forum Elf and also I do some work on the Manual and the Wiki. I seem to remember this topic being discussed at length before on the forum - your'e not alone in thinking the default is set the wrong way round. Part of the problem is that there a largish number of preference that can be rese...

Re: Recording from multiple USB mics

I was under the impression that ASIO drivers allowed audacity to access multiple devices. Am I mistaken? If this is a lack in Audacity, is there a chance it will be added in a future version? I suspect that this is unlikely - my understanding is that this is a licensing issue and not a technology i...

Re: "Close" command exits app?

Ander,

there is a Preferences setting which controls this behaviour.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Interface and in the dialog box you will see a sub-box titled Behaviors.

Uncheck the box that says Closing last window quits Audacity

Re: Mono Track To Stereo

Who was the champion of Stereo Track to Mono? How did that slip by? Surely there's other ways to do that. For me, the Champion is definitely Brian Davies - his ClickRepair utility has a little check box to turn your stereo show into mono - and what's more it can be set to work while the clicks are ...
