Re: Trim not working

Well this is puzzling... Yes your screenshot does indeed show that the audio is properly selected - and thus the edit commands should become available to operate on the selected audio - but I see from the screenshot that they are greyed out. I just tested this in my old copy of 1.2.4b Audacity on my...

Re: Trim not working

Are sure that you have actually selected some audio - it should be highlighted as dark grey background in the track panel with the blue waveforms.

Just as a test try selecting the whole project by using CTRL+A - do the Edit menu items become available for use and not greyed-out then?

Re: usb turntable-cannot record

You are plugging the turntable to the USB port on your computer and powering the turntable up before firing up Audacity are you? Are you sure that the USB cable and connectors are ok? Can you try with a different USB cable - one which you know works? Can you try using a different USB port, or gently...

Re: Timer recording does not want to stop !

Yup, this is a known bug amd is on the bug-list, but it is proving somewhat elsive for the developers to track down as it is not easily repeatable. I have experienced it with various releases of 1.3 and with the current Beta it has happened to me twice now. It was thought at one time that it only ha...

Re: Legal?

Provided they stick to the licensing conditions it is normally ok. See the section near the bottom of http://audacityteam.org/about/ titled "Bundling, Reselling or Distributing Audacity"

Re: Trying to lower the volume on one track in a project.

You can use the Envelope tool to vary the volume level at different parts of the recording. Select the track you want to operate on and apply the amplitude envelope. The Envelope tool is the icon with two white triangles pointing to a little white dot with a blue line passing through. With this tool...

Re: Error: reference to invalid character number at line 8

I do not know if this is recoverable - I don't have experience of how to fix this. Hopefully someone else will happen along soon who can advise on this. So in the mantime don't move, delete or rename anything. For future use I would recommend to sticking to standard alphanumeric characters and under...

Re: CD Burning Difficulties

Yes, to make a CD you should have files that are exported at 44.1kHz 16-bit PCM stereo (this is part of the Red Book standard for CDs). You can continue to work in Audacity in 96k 32-bit float - just do the downsampling on Export from Aucaity by selecting the correct Export format that you need. Aud...
