Re: usb turntable-cannot record
Or the turntable itself could be faulty - I hope you kept the receipt and bought from a store with a good returns policy? But if you're now getting the option to select the USB Audio Codec it looks like yor Mac is seeing the USB device. Does the TT also have RCA leads - if so can you connect them to...

Re: Trim not working
or you could mark the current playback/record position by using CTRL+M
This will create a label at that point.
I use this quite a lot when I'm reviewing off-air FM captures to identfy the approximate start and end points of sections that I'm interested in retaining.

Re: Convert stereo to mono
Ok. Thanx everybody. I actually more or less understand; although my chance of remembering the steps & rationale for next time (say, in 6 months) is probably very small. Well just bookmark this thread in your bookmarks - there is an option at the bottom oof the thread for bookmarking - and you ...

Re: Clipping when recording from SPDIF input
I had this problem a while back when I transcribed my MiniDisc recordings - I was using the SPDIF input to my USB Soundcard Edirol UA-1EX. Most of them transferred with no clipping - However there were a troublesome few that did clip. My workaround for these was to take the analog output from my Min...

Re: Problem with .m4a conversion
When I started out with my first iPod I used to export MP3s from Audacity and I never had a problem playing them I used Constant Bit Rate 192. But now I always do what Gale suggested, exporting as WAV and then using iTunes to do the conversion to AAC - and I've certainly never had any problems with ...

Re: Equalization
it would be far better if the developers put it all in one package instead of making us dl other stuff Personally I'm inclined to agree - but the dev discussion spent some time on weighing the pros and cons of having an overloaded drop-down list with specialist options (like 78 EQ curves) which onl...

He's trying to be polite - "as rare as rocking horse sh*t" is the more normal form used ... How many wooden horses have you seen defaecating? 8-) @whomper - when a Brit "mucks out a stable" they are actually removing the droppings from the horse, plus of course any contaminated s...

Re: Trim not working
Still puzzling. I just tested this again on my 1.3.12 (Windows XP not 7) - and again the click and drag selection works fine, the edit commands are not greyed out and the Trim works fine. I cann't imagine why W7 might cause this - we have plenty of W7 posters who can't get started properly - but you...

Re: Equalization
That's odd - my 1.3.12 still has the following 78 EQ curves (amongst other EQs): Decca FFRR 78 Columbia 78 EMI 78 RCA Victor 1938 RCA Victor 1947 and my own "custom" inverted RIAA EQ curve The tutorial in the 1.3/2.0 manual on trnscribing 78s: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title...
