Re: Clipping
You certainly never want your recordings to go above 0db - you will get clipping as you suggest - nasty .... A good rule of thumb would be to record to hit a peak at around -6dB - if you are using Audacity set at it's default 32-bit you can certainly record lower than this and then amplfy later with...

Re: USB over modulating can't find a control
No - I think you need a better USB turntable - or better still a proper turntable which you connect though a phono pre-amp and then in to the line-in on your PC - or connect via an external USB soundcard if you have no line-in on your PC or if you have a poor on-board soundcard in your PC. As I said...

Re: The audio sounds like crud
Not sure why your Pause won't work. A couple of workarounds: 1) Record side 1 of the LP, do any editing cleanup required, label the tracks and export multiple MP3s WAVs or whatever. Then delete the audio track and the label track for side-1 leaving an empty project. Then simply Record Side-2 and repe...

Re: 'Project rate'
It's most likely that you have created a data CD and not a music CD - yo need to set your CD burner s/w to create a music CD.

Re: USB over modulating can't find a control
Whther you can do control in Audacity depends entirely on your sound card in the USB device and its drivers - and it sounds like yours won't do that. Have you ensured that you have got the latest up-to-date driver for your USB device? The only other way normally is to use the hardware gain control (...

Re: THE IMAGINARY TOOLBAR
One of my PCs will record streaming audio and the other won't - as Irish says it entirely depends on your soundcard and its drivers.
The PC that I have that won't do this can be made to do it but only by usin my external USB soundcard and with that soundcards outputs looped back to its inputs.

Re: exporting single tracks (not LAME issue!)
Do you have any non-standard characters in the name of the second track? Foreigh characters or slashes for example?

Re: I can not properly register
Is this a USB device that you are using? If so it may be a poor USB connection.

Re: THE IMAGINARY TOOLBAR
I've never seen this toolbar greyed-out myself - some folks manage to lose it altogether by accidentally turning it off, but that doesn't seem to be the case with you. It's possible that your Peferences have got screwed up and may need re-setting. In 1.2.x for windows the preferences are stored in t...

Re: Missing MP3
Additionally, in iTunes if I play a WAV file it seems like that can convert it to an MP3. This seems too easy or that someone would have pointed that out. Is this correct? No, if you import a WAV file into iTunes and play it, it will play as a WAV file. However you camn use iTunes to creates a conv...
