Re: Excessive Static with the Use of USB PhonoPlus V.2
Another thought - my ART preamp has two switchable settings for different levels of cartridge output at 100pF and 200pF - does your ART PhonoPlus have similar funcionality - and is it set right for the output from your cartridge? Update: from a quick look at the PhonoPlus on the ART website it would...

Re: Software playthrough - No joy!
Don't worry - it catches a lot of folk out. Fooled me too when I started out with a USB TT

Re: Software playthrough - No joy!
If you have all your settings to the USB then it means that you are trying to get playback through the USB TT and I bet it has no speakers. You need to set your computer so the sound output is targetted on your onboard soundcard (I'm a Windows person so don't know the MAC magic for this). You probab...

Re: New Vinyl Getting Skips
I agree with whomper here - it could quite quite easily just be another bad pressing. In the days when I was buying vinyl LPs I can remember with some recordings (even on major labels) having to take them back more than once to finally get a good pressing that played properly. If your TT is playing ...

Re: recording streaming music
No, you will need to split it up after recording using labels and Export Multiple. See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... ate_tracks

Re: Excessive Static with the Use of USB PhonoPlus V.2
for BEST results with least hassles use a real TT with a magnetic cartridge and a real preamp with RIAA eq built in run the preamps line output into an external audio interface (mistakenly called "soundcard") line input and then that into your usb port @Whomper please read what the poster...

Re: Excessive Static with the Use of USB PhonoPlus V.2
QUESTION: Is this background static normal with the use of a USB connection? Charlie, basically no. Many of us use these devices with no problems. I personally run an Edirol UA-1EX connected to my old Technichs SL-150 with SME arm and with an ART pre-amp (almost certainly the same pre-amp stage tha...

Re: Speed of MP3 conversion
See this tutorial from the Audacity manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Higher_speed_transfers But please note that this practice is not recommended for a number of reasons - not the least being the loss of some of the audio. The full set of tutorials that this one is a part of ma...

Re: tried to switch to stero input, now won't record
I am a Windows elf - but I have no magic that I can cast on this ... :? On my XP systems (desktop and laptop) both have available the MME drivers and the Windows Direct Sound drivers - and like you, both work ok with Audacity. I have mine set to use the windows Direct Sound - IIRC I set then this wa...
