Re: splitting recordings into separate tracks
Would you also agree that one should choose a folder? Absolutely - or rather a set of folders - a taxonomy even. I have a folder under my username called "Audacity Projects" under that is a set of folders e.g. "Radio recordings", "LPs", "Singles 45s". Each of...

Re: Problem with selection tool
Looks to me like youv'e inadvertently turned the Envelope tool on (which enables variable amplification thoughout the recording). The envelope tool icon is the button with the two little white triagles pointing towards eachother with a little white dot inbetween and a blue line passing through. To t...

Re: converting tapes to cd
... "sticky-shed", where the oxide layer on the tape becomes sticky and kind of vibrates as is passes over the heads, although I've never heard of this happening with cassettes (always with certain brands of reel-to-reel tape).... Professional restorers deal with this by gently baking the...

Re: MP3's on CD
Mainly I want to do what my MP3 player won't do. That is, when I turn my car off when playing a song and start the car again, the cd player will start playing again where it left off. .. You just need to make sure that such a DVD player will meet this criterion you stated that you wanted - if it do...

Re: splitting recordings into separate tracks
WAV files generally do not carry metadata (there are some exceptions - but not in this case I think - even if your WAVs are carrying metadata, I suspect that iTunes will just ignore it). I also export WAVs for iTunes I label my tracks in an Audacity project as: 01 <song_name_1>, 02 <song_name_2>, et...

Re: MP3's on CD
You bet they do. I run two Windows computers both XP (one XP-HE t'other is XP-Pro). Both have iTunes libraries which synch nicely with my two iPods. One of the smart marketing moves that Apple made was to release the Windows version of iTunes, thus opening up easy iPod use for PC users and ensuring ...

Re: "Not Responding" with 'Fit Project' or 'Zoom Out' button
Tx for the reply. I mentioned the version (& OS) in the OP. Oops - I really should learn to read properly  It seems odd since I've tried a couple of other free/budget sound editing apps and they don't exhibit this hanging behaviour when changing the zoom level... If it's doing some intern...

Re: Parameters for High Pass Filter and Noise Remover?
I notice in one of your postings that you state that you use Click Repair in reverse. Have you found that this gives better results? Does it perhaps reduce the damage? Do you know if other users do the same? Do you ever do it forward? or always in reverse? Do you ever do it both ways, perhaps at di...

Re: "Not Responding" with 'Fit Project' or 'Zoom Out' button
It can take Audacity quite a while to recalculate the waveform display when you zoon out to Fit project say, or even when just zooming out, even on powerful machines - Audacity has a lot of calculation to do for the zooming out. So it's not a know issue - it just take some time - go make a cuppa. Mo...
