Re: Changing end/beginning points of a clip
... I'm used to Audition where, in multitrack mode, you can slide the ends and out of the clips by just pulling on the slide that you need to. You can do that in Audacity but only in the later Beta 1.3.x releases - this functionality was introduced fairly recently into the Beta releases. I use this...

Re: Recommondation for a Chorus Live Concert in a Church
You might like to try using Brian Davies' ClickRepair. It is paid for software -but you do get a 21-day free-trial. See this sticky thread: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1994 I do a lot of old vinyl LP transcriptions and I used to do manual click removal, as Trebor suggests,...

Re: first attempt at recording
When you save an Audacity project as <project_name> it creates a number of things 1. a top level master project file called <project_name>.aup 2. a folder at the same filing level called <project_name>_data 3. and within the folder a sub-folder structure with lots of little .au files - segments of t...

Re: "Not Responding" with 'Fit Project' or 'Zoom Out' button
25 minutes later and the audio is still not selected - WTM shows Audacity status as Running - and the windows task button in the task bar does not say "Not Responding" ...
UPDATE: 1hour 15 mins after initial selection and the audio is still not selected - test abandoned.

Re: Amplication/Normalization and Clipping
I usually prefer to play on the safe side... and I rarely amplify anything beyond -3dB or -2dB. ... Ok Bruno - youv'e convinced me - I've changed my personal workflow to amplify to only -2.0dB to give a little more headroom :) When recoding live audio I usually try to set the input gain so that the...

Re: Faint squeakiness in exported MP3 files
64k is generally regarded as the minimum quality for spken word recordings 0- 32-bit if you are in mono. For music 128k is normally regarded as the minimum quality setting (64k for mono) Otherwise you will hear digital artifacts as a result of the compression - those with really good ear will still ...

Re: "Not Responding" with 'Fit Project' or 'Zoom Out' button
I followed your steps above in 1.3.13 in Ubuntu 10.04 and Windows 7 with the 90 minute long project saved above. SHIFT + "Skip to End" button moved instantaneously to the last 8 seconds or so of the track with the waveform correctly selected from 1h 02 m to the end. Is the track selected ...

Re: "Not Responding" with 'Fit Project' or 'Zoom Out' button
Dave, thanks for that mini-tutorail on WTM - I never realized you could see all that stuff by diddling with the view - most illuminating. I am running it right now and one thing I notice immediately is thatI have one instantiation of audacity.exe running (1.3.13 Apha with Nikolay's patch). This auda...
