Re: 1.3.5 will not capture audio from line-in
What version is 1.3 beta unicode? ... Should be 1.3.12 if you got it from the authorized site - you should always be able to detect which version you have by clicking Help > About Audacity. There are also Nightly (alpha) builds available which are the latest code but which may contain bugs. WC

OIC - thanks for the enlightenment jberland
Thousands eh? I don't envy your task -I only had around 250 (that I hadn't already bought again on CD) and about 100 tapes - and that took over two and a half years. And now I have just started on my wife's similarly sized collection

Re: How do I select long parts without...
you can set timer points in 1.3 but not in 1.2
In 1.2 it will help you if you zoom out (use the magnifying glass icon)

Re: Sound Card Reviews
It could be argued that 32-floating should be used for everything and downsample to the delivery format. An argument I support, as it's what I do to produce WAV files for CD burning and import into iTunes. The CDs when payed on my hihfi ( Rega CD deck, QUAD 33/303 ESL-57 electrostatic speakers) sou...

Re: dolby b and c
I would also recommend winding the tape from end to end and back again before the recording. But take care if you are using a cheapish deck - my trusty old Nak has a braking mech. to elegantly slow the speed as it detects the approach of End-Of-Tape. Cheaper mechs. often just bang on to the end whic...

Re: increasing volume output of an mp3 track
Just be aware that unlike the Amplify effect which works on the stereo pair as a pair - the Normalize effect works on each stereo channel independently. Useful if your setup is not balanced properly - but if it is, then you may end up changing/damaging the balance/stereo image. For more detail see t...

Re: Which Audacity clean-up effects should be distortion-fre
I use Audacity for most of the production chain - but I really recommend using ClickRepair for click and pop removal. It costs about $40 but is well worth it for the time and effort that it saves - and I find the results just a little shy of magic. See this sticky thread http://forum.audacityteam.or...

Re: totally lost
Reading a few FAQs, it was explained that in order to place the music on itunes, I needed to convert it to mpg3 format ... Actually you don't need MP3 since you are working in iTunes/iPod-land. Since you are using iTunes on a MAC I would recommend that you consider using Apple's AAC compressed form...
