Re: Click Removal Tool

I've never understood why the stereo hardware equipment makers like Pioneer, Denon, Yamaha, etc have not made a simple hard drive based MP3 playback component that would connect directly into a home stereo system, just like a cassette deck. That would eliminate the need for a running PC for playbac...

Re: Why are bits of the vocal track not playing back?

What he means is how were you recording and what were you recording - what is the hardware and software chain?

You will have to yield a bit more information before anybody can help you - otherwise we are in the dark and it's just guesswork!

Re: Click Removal Tool

Pat, Since you are producing an archive I would recommend that as well as burning CDs that you also back up the WAVs to external disks. I create two separate backaups on two separate 1TB USB disks of each WAV file that I create frome tape/LP or even a modern off-air FM capture. The work involved is ...

Re: Exporting files

For 32-bit WAVs - in the Export dialog box, see the dropdown selector labelled "Save as type" and select "Other uncompressed files". Then click on the Options button and in that dialog box select WAV and 32-bit. For VBR MP3s - in the Export dialog box, also see the dropdown selec...

Re: Audacity cannot record on other computer...

By "better" computer I assume you mean a more modern one, right? If so this may be the cause of your problem. The choices that you get in that input selector dropdown are entirely dependent on your particular computer, its operating system, the soundcard and its associated drivers. See thi...

Re: Click Removal Tool

Pat, when I started out doing click removal a few years ago I was using manual methods with Audacty: and I used to use the deletion method you describe - and you're right that in most cases you won't notice the deletion. In fact I will still do this for a very damaged recording (like the sample you ...

Re: VERY poor sound quality

See this sticky thread on Audacity/W7: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 12&t=16871

And note that the 1.3.12 Beta Audacity is the current recommended version for W7 - see: http://audacityteam.org/download/

Re: Click Removal Tool

That's one hell of a noisy sample! Not only some very big clicks (I couldn't even get ClickRepair to fix those) but also a lot of crackle and surface noise.

Do you clean your records befor capturing them?

Re: Basic problem with Wave Out or Stereo Mix

For a start I'd recommend using 1.3.12 the latest Beta version - it is the Audacity renmmended version for Vista - see: http://audacityteam.org/download/ Then, what you get in that drop-down box is entirely dependent on your computer, your sondcard and its associated device drivers - and if you are ...

Re: Click Removal Tool

No Pat, I can't see any attachment either.

<<<You say that Audacity should do it, but I can't get it to work.>>>
You are selecting the sections of Audio for Audacity to work on before trying to use the Click Removal effect, right?
