Re: Getting rid of fisssss fissss ....

None of that recording is ok - you have clipping throughout the sample you have posted the pictures of (that's why you get the horrible noise. It's because your input signal leve is far too high - you need to reduce the level either by using Audacity's input signal control (the slider with the micro...

Re: thought voice vs spoken voice

An age difference works well too - think of Kevin in the Wonder Years where the adult looks back on and comments on his childhood self - or Richard Dreyfus in Stand By Me.

And this titorial from the 1.3/2.0 manual also refers to it as noise removal - see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... _Exporting

Re: Default time/duration settings?

I've moved the gist of this thread to the Pending Feature Requests page in the Audacity Wiki.

I have retained it on the forum here and moved it to Audio Processing so that other readers may benefit from Ed's code if they want to try the DIY approach.

Re: Just posted in 1.2 forum also--re separated data files

Most of the elves consider there is only one "real" Audacity, the 1.3 version. And in particular 1.3.12 for most of us this current Beta is the best ever Audacity. It still has a few niggles which are well documented in the release notes. Earlier Betas did have some glitches which tripped...

Re: Dragging the cursor?

As Gale implies the little green triangle is actually not a cursor it is the crrent playback position (in record mode the little triangle becomes red to indicate the current record position). The cursor is actually independent of the green/red triangle and can be deployed during playback and recordi...

Re: Just posted in 1.2 forum also--re separated data files

Please don't double post - it only annoys people and wastes their time. I have already replied to your earlier post.

In reply to your implied question in this spost, you are likely to be much better off with the mature Beta 1.3.12 than the now ancient 1.2

Re: Newbie-my data files for one song are in separate files

When you save an Audacity project as <project_name> it creates a number of things 1. a top level master project file called <project_name>.aup 2. a folder at the same filing level called <project_name>_data 3. and within the folder a sub-folder structure with lots of little .au files - segments of t...

Re: Poor Recording Quality From Turntables

With only a mic input like that you are a prime candidate for one of the external soundcards that we know work well with Audacity - see: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9477 And I hope that you have a phono pre-amp in that recording chain (your TT may have one integrated in it...
