Re: Noise Removal settings and useage

2. Do I have to "Get Noise Profile" each time I want to use the tool, or does Audacity remember the noise throughout the current recording session? AFAIK I think Audacity will "remember" the noise profile, until you change it by resampling later, within any current Audacity sess...

Re: I need some "For dummies" level help, free of jargon

The other tool you might consider is the Auto Duck effect - see this article in the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Auto_Duck IIRC I think you will need the latest Beta 1.3.12 for this tool - as as far as I remember it was introduced as a new feature in one of the early Beta r...

Re: how do I delete a bunch of sequential labels

IIRC some of the earlier 1.3 Betas would delete labels if you slected a timeline in the label track and used the silence k/b shortcut Ctrl-L. It certainly doesn't do that now in 1.3.12. I used to use it as I had "end" markers that I placed at aprroximate places in a recording, while record...

Re: Noise Removal Tests

Interesting Bill - this may have some bearing on some recent posts I can vaguely recall where folks had problems with Audacity's NR.

Are you planning to potentially report this as a bug?

Re: dumb questions

You need to be using 1.3 and not 1.2 - use the latest Beta 1.3.12 - and then you can usethe Append Record function - the keyboard shortcut is Shift+R

Re: @@@@*****Join Split Deletes All At Once...??

... If you select both the audio track that you want to edit, and the label track, then you can delete and the labels will move along with the audio. ... Provided that is you are using the latest Beta 1.3.12. The early Betas were ok but developers introduced a temporary bug in some of the later ver...

Re: No sound on computer

When you plug in a USB device like this your computer hands over control of all sound services to the USB device - both input and output. I'm guessing your USB device doesn't have a set of speakers, you then don't get any sound from the computer (not even the normal computer sounds). All you need to...

Yes, you've probably got a lot more labels than you think you have. In 1.2 it is possible to create piles of labels directly on top of each other and you can't see the lower ones. Label handling is much improved in 1.3.x
