Re: Noise tests on my audio recording setup
WC: Do you really mean amplified 25 times (27.96 dB) or amplified 25 dB (about 18x)? Bill, it's a fair cop - you got me  Yes I do mean amplified 25 dB (as per the Amplify dialog box) and NOT 25x as you correctly point out - sorry. WC Update: original post corrected following Bill's comments

Re: Distortion from USB input
I suspect that this is going to turn out to be a Windows 7 problem. Do you have the latest Beta 1.3.12 installed? When you are trying with the RCA leads to your on-board soundcard, do you have the USB disconnected? You should do. See this sticky thread on W7/Audacity: http://forum.audacityteam.org/v...

Sound Card Reviews - my Edirol hisses slightly
Following some recent threads on noise removal on the forum I ran some tests today on my audio setup. Onne conclusion that I was drawn to is that my trusty Edirol UA-1EX USB soundcard introduces a tiny bit of hiss into my recording. It is so tiny as to be undetectable in normal recordings and is cer...

Noise tests on my audio recording setup
Following BillW58’s recent thread on noise removal tests (see http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=39529 ) and some email correspondence I have had recently with another forum user (patcurci) on a related matter I have been led to do series of tests on my recording setup. Update: f...

Re: a pop and click remover
Lenny, as you are processing 78s you might also want to look at Brian Davies' other piece of software - DeNoise. It costs another $40, but like ClickRepair you do get a 21-day free trial,
It's not quite as easy to use as CR but it does produce some good results when used carefully.

IMHO it's more than good, it's a little shy of being magic - see this sticky thread: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1994

Re: Cant Record ! Please Help
You haven't helped yourself, or us, by providing details of you operating system and version of Audacity - and that's probably why folk haven't responded so far ... I can tell you that whether you can do this or not depends entirely on your combination of PC/opereating system/sound card/sound card d...

Re: Noise Removal Tests
And all of which confirms my personal view that Brian Davies has built some finel-honed tools to do some particularly narrow audio tasks extremely well - just as Chris has with his famous Compressor. And Audacity still provides an excellent audio "workbench" to glue all these specificic ex...

Re: Recording is coming out as one channel duplicated
Have you got your Audacity Preferences set to 1 channel (mono) - it should be 2 Channel (stereo)
Go to Edit > Preferences > Devices to check and reset.
And are you sure your cartridge is wired correctly? Can you test by connecting the TT to a hi-fi or stereo boom-box?

Re: how do I delete a bunch of sequential labels
I am in the process of e-mailing Al right now to get some clarification about this. After having played around with it and thought about it some, especially in the light of linking, I am wondering if this behavior is appropriate. Especially if the tracks are linked (and from the visual representati...
