I think that SUPER is Windows only (and this is the Mac OS X forum). You may be able to convert the files using iTunes. Oops, yes I hadn't noticed properly this was the MAC section :oops: In which case I'm guessing the the posters file is in Apple's AAC format - and as Steve says you can ue iTunes ...

You are almost certainly trying to import a file type that Audacity does not support. Audacity Supports WAV, MP3, OGG and FLAC & MP2 in 1.3. The screech is Audacity 1.2's inelegant way of telling you that it can't handle the file type you've given it - in 1.3.x a more appropriate and informative...

Provided you do have a proper line level line-in socket and not just a mic-in (note that most desktops have both, but most laptops only have a mic-in which is unsuitable for what you want) - and provided you have a reasonable or good soundcard in the PC then you shouldn't need the USB device. I fairly regularly record strreams from the BBC site Audacity 1.3.12 on Windows XP-PRO-SP3 and these always record fully with no problems.

Which version of 1.3 are you using?

Yes, it is indicating that the signal is oversaturated and is clipping - the red lines are the clipping indicators.
