Re: when to use gain and when to use amplify
Chuck, the other tool that might help you is the envelope tool. This gives you variable control over the volume in any track by ising an "envelope" that you can manipulate. See this page from the 1.3 manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Envelope_Tool BTW I'm fascinated by...

Re: no sound on playback

Re: Tone control plug-in
I think the main benefit of a "reduced interface" for the Equalizer would be to make it more convenient for people that already use it. If it encourages some less technical users to have a go with it, then that's a bonus, but because of the number of features (sliders/curves, filter lengt...

Re: Recording in Audacity while it's not the active program?
A possible workaround: If you have two PCs then you could run the game on one and send its output to the second PC for recording in Audacity.

Re: Disc Space Remaining 6hrs 25 mins & Falling!
Have you tried emptying the Windows wastebasket? You should also probably defrag the disk too. Amd yes if it gets to xero you will not be able to use Audacity - BUT more importantly you will proabably not will be able to use you PC as you will have totally run out of diskspace. So you do need to act...

Re: Labels From Project Not Exporting to .wav File
As a new question, I don't know how to use references to db levels. And where to set them in various effects. Can you steer me to a link which explains same? If you mean with the Amplify and Normalize effects, then there are controls in tha dialog boxes for those effects that let you manage the dB ...

Re: Labels From Project Not Exporting to .wav File
Thanks for the clarification russg, that particular tutorial is one of my editorial responsibilities so I'll take a further look at it when I get some time. But yes, all recording and editing in Audacity is done in Audacity Projects . An Audacity project is a complex file strure, the aup is the top ...

Re: Why is the audio sound less on the recorded?
The sound quality is more likely to be down to the quality (or otherwise) of your soundcard and its drivers. First thing to check is that you have latest Realtek drivers for the soundcard that you have. You should be able to download thes from the Realtek site. The lower volume is likely to be down ...
