Re: Playback without Windows Media Player?
While Audacity can quite happily play its project files - you are right it is basically a piece of s/w for editing. You are much better off exporting uncompressed WAV files or compressed MP3s for use in player s/w. And yes iTunes can indeed play WAV files - thoght you might be better off with high b...

Re: my log - remix stereo "Please Please Me" by the Beatles
WC - if you would like, I will send the Audacity files. Chuck, sending Audacity projects is always problematical - all those little au files ... plus the fact that you need to replicate the file locations. Always more trouble than it is worth. So I'd much rather just hear the results of your labour...

Re: Unusual, infuriating issue with playback. HELP PLEASE
Gary, do yourself a favour for your future work and reset your preferences so that dependent files are actually impoted and coied into the project. In 1.2 go to Edit > Preferences and slect the File Formats tab - and check on the radio button in the When importing uncompressed audio files into Audac...

Re: defaults for Click Removal effect & advice sought
Ah, but then you're re-recording in Audacity - and at the levels you set your input signal to - either with the output of your R2R or with your Audacity input slider setting, or both. So what step 8 does for me is it enables me to record at step 1 with little or no risk of clipping, but still with a...

Re: Audacity showing same track twice
Whic version of 1.3 are you using - the latest ia 1.3.12.
I used to get this problem occasionally with earlier versions of 1.3 but AFAIK this has been fixed for the later versions.
You can get 1.3.12 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/

Re: my log - remix stereo "Please Please Me" by the Beatles
Chuck, what source material are you using for your original "master". I've just had a good listen to both the "original" Album versions I have - the 1987 CD issue is definitely in mono (and it says so on the tin) - the 2009 "Re-master" is a dreadful IMHO faux stereo whe...

Re: my log - remix stereo "Please Please Me" by the Beatles
Chuck, thanks for this thread - most interesting. I look forward to reading you developments on this. I would love to get a copy of your WAV file once you've finished so I can audition against the CD originals, 1987 and 2009 re-mix (sady I no longer have the vinyl - it wore out!) on my electrostic Q...

Re: defaults for Click Removal effect & advice sought
Richard, I do a lot of LP and tape transcription. I use Audacity 1.3.12 for most of that process - but for Clik/Pop removal I prefer to use Brain Davie's excellent ClickRepair - it costs a little (c. $40) but is will worth it IMHO. See this sticky thread: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audacity_P...

Re: PC not picking up sound from USB Turntable
First thing I would do is to upgrade you Audacity to the latest version 1.3.12 - it is much better than the now ancient 1.2 (that I'm sure shipped with your TT). You can get 1.3 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ And then work through this tutorial from the 1.3 manual: http://manual.audaci...

Re: when to use gain and when to use amplify
Hello Waxcylinder, where would be a good place to post an on-going status of the remix? Once I have finished "Please Please Me" will complete the rest of the first album I would suggest posting it in the Audio Processing - it should make a good case-study (if it ends up being a good case ...
