Re: FM Stereo "noise" and its removal
I think you could well be right Koz. :( Because after an afternoon spent with two other good FM radios moved around the house - still getting the same noise on both those radios in various rooms - and with either of them plugged to my recording set-up => "noise" still there. But blow me, h...

Re: Music sounds like in a box
Carol, glad you're up and running with this. American Graffitti, Buddy Holly - now you're talkin' ... :) A thought for you: as well as burning the CDs you may want to consider keeping backups of the WAV files that you make - I retain 2 separate copies on 2 separate external USB disks. The Cds you ma...

Re: FM Stereo "noise" and its removal
If you post a bit of the "silence" we can hear for ourselves what the noise it is like. ok - here is my 1 second noise sample, exported in 32-bit float WAV Noise Profile.wav If the noise is present on all channels but only on one radio receiver then it may be the audio amplifier of that r...

Re: FM Stereo "noise" and its removal
Thanks for your inputs Koz and Trebor, You have some other problem. 19.000KHz is the frequency of the broadcast stereo pilot tone needed to decode the stereo signals. It's injected into the show at 9%-10% of the total loudness (reducing the show volume by 10%) and is always there in a stereo show. T...

Re: Disk Space Usage?
Audacity certainly should be cleaning up its temporary files after usage. Like you, when transfrerring vinyl I don't save any projects - but I export to WAV and then use iTunes to convert thos WAVs to Apple's AAC rather than MP3. I also retain two separate copies ogf the WAV files on two separate ex...

FM Stereo "noise" and its removal
Just very recently the FM stereo tuner and its aerial that I use to capture BBC FM brodacasts off-air has developed some noise in its signal. I am presuming that this is something to do with the kit resolving (or otherwise) the stereo signal because if I switch the tuner to mono the noise disappears...

Re: Clipping or Distortion on Vocal High Notes of Ripped Aud
MLK, I note that you mention in the thread that you have normalized your recording to 0db - Now while this is "legal", as Koz alludes to, it is the case that some software players and CD players will cause clipping at that level. Accordinglingly I only ever "normalize" my recordi...

Re: Behrenger UCA202 - microphone only record option
... the main purpose of those units is for computers that have no line input, or those of us who want a quick-and-dirty (actually not so dirty) phono preamp. And for those of us who want a better soundcard than that delivered in their PCs - and one that is isolated from the noisy electrical environ...

Re: Still no sound on playback
When you plug in a USB device like this your computer hands over control of all sound services to the USB device - both input and output. Since you USB deck doesn't have a set of speakers, you then don't get any sound from the computer (not even the normal Windows sounds). All you need to do is to g...
