I've moved it to Audio Processing.

Re: defaults for Click Removal effect & advice sought

I think I understand, but just want to make sure I am doing this correctly. A) I put -2.0 dB in the lower box (New Peak Amp.), then B) I read the upper box. If the upper box is a NEGATIVE number, then the program will actually DEamplify my track (make it quieter) if I run it with that setting. Is t...

Re: defaults for Click Removal effect & advice sought

When you open up Dominic's Amplify, what you should see in the upper input box (labelled "Amplification dB:" a figure which shows the amaount of headroom to 0 dB i.e. the amount you need to amplify to get to 0 db. So if you are having to de-amplify to get to -2 dB than this means that you ...

Re: recording breakdown

Glad you got it sorted - and thanks for reporting back.

Yes we usually advise people not to use USB hubs - and some folk in the past have found that it works better when a TT deck is the only USB decvice connected.

Re: recording breakdown

Possible cause is dodgy USB connection. Can you (gently) wiggle the plug in it's socket or unplug/re-plug it. Try another USB socket. And you're not using a USB hub are you?

Re: Creating a backing track with Audacity

I recall seeing several postings in the past about failures to load WAV files - and in all cases when the files were examined they turned out not to be true WAV files - are you sure you have/had proper WAVs (and just because the extension says .WAV it doesn't necessarily mean it's a WAV.

Re: Music sounds like in a box

Carol, to make a "proper" CD you need to Export from Audacity 16-bit PCM stereo WAV - this is (part of) the Red Book standard for CDs. These WAV files then need to burned to a CD with CD burner software (which doesn't actually place separate WAV files on the tracks, it creates a continuous...

Re: Creating a backing track with Audacity

Just use some CD ripping software to rip the tracks or required track to a WAV file and then import the WAV file into Audacity. There are a few CD's around which have copy protection on them - in this case you can't rip the CD (but in this case you can play it and record it into Audacity).

Re: Windows Media Player and ".au" project blocks

.aup and .au files should be going nowhere near WMP. These files are Audacity's internal project structure. Onece you project is complete you need to export to WAV, MP3 or whatever to get a music file that will play on WMP
