Re: No USB Codec sound
When you plug in a USB device like this your computer hands over control of all sound services to the USB device - both input and output. Since your USB device doesn't have a set of speakers, you then don't get any sound from the computer (not even the normal computer sounds). All you need to do is ...

Re: Lost Project
Audacity doesn't "Export WAV files to Windows Media Player" - rather it exports a set of WAV files to a location in your Windows file structure to a location that you select at the time of export. You can then Use WMP to access these files from wherever you told Audacity to put them. And B...

Re: aup 'open with' property greyed out with Acrobat
Chuck, with Windows you should be able to set the association between filetype of extension .xxx with your choice of executable image. In XP you get to this from Tools > Folder > Options > FileType And note that this will not update automatically when you update your Audacity versions - so you will ...

Re: ? amplify when doing vinyl convesion to digital
You might also consider using Apple's own compression format AAC - similar to Bill's suggestion: export as WAV and use iTunes to convert to AAC (this will be your default iTunes setting anyway, for ripping CDs). See this sticky thread for an overview of my workflow: http://forum.audacityteam.org/vie...
Re: No Sound
I cannot get the album artwork to go onto this album. I am going to call itunes tomorrow to see if they can help me. My understanding is that iTunes gets the artwork from the Gracenote CDDB online database (this is where the track listings are obtained from too). I found that when I was making CDs ...

Re: Static/distortion in segment of a recording
WC ...regarding external ADC: I don't find much of a selection out there. I can find them for less than $80 or more than $1700. I'd be more comfortable somewhere in between. Would you mind telling me what you're using? Phil, I use the Edirol UA-1EX, this is now superseded by the Cakewalk UA-1G (bot...

Re: Static/distortion in segment of a recording
Workaround: try working with one side of the LP at a time. This is my preferred method anyway as I like working with a smaller data-set.
I use an external USB soundcard (ADC) as I want it outside the electrically noisy environment which exists inside my PC.

Re: 'Motorized volume sliders' Mixing table
Greger, Audacity will not have this (or any other FR) implemented in the 1-2 month timeframe - it will be much l onger. The developers' focus right now (and there are not many of them) is to crack some critical Priority-2 (P2) bugs that are inhibiting the release of the next officially stable versio...

Re: 'Motorized volume sliders' Mixing table
Steve, I'm not sure that that FR in the Wiki is actually quite what the poster is looking for. That FR has a request for the Equalizer to be operable in real time. If I understand zekewarg correctly they are asking for real-time use of the Mixer borad (the one with one slider per track) - and for th...

Re: Tone Arm weight....
If there is no counterweight adjustment on your turntable - then you might try a trick that was used in the old days and add a little extra weight to the headshell. Folk used to tape a small coin (US 1c or dime or - in the UK English farthing) to the top of the headshell. You could also use some Blu...
