See this tutorial in the 1.3 manual for my Audacity to iTunes/AAC workflow: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Samp ... _to_iTunes

Re: Can't get a device in prefs to show for recording in v1.

It sounds like wax has perfected his/her pirating techniques with the combination of laptop and desktop computers... I think we could all take a lesson from wax... Sshhhh... please don't tar me with that particular brush - and excuse me while I remove my black eyepatch, bandana, wooden leg and get ...

Re: Where is Apple Lossless Encoder?

I'm still cross with myself that I started out with 192 rather than 256 or 320. I did this at a time when iPod disks we maxing out at 60gB so it was a compromise between qulaity and size occupancy - now you can go up to 160gB I record/rip now at 256VBR, but I'm being lazy about re-ripping the earlie...

Re: Where is Apple Lossless Encoder?

AAC produces a slightly smaller file than an MP3 of comparable quality. Is that true? Apple claim that AAC is best, Microsoft claim that WMA is best, Xiph claim that Ogg is best, Lame claim that MP3 is best. I thought that most ABX testing indicated no significant difference between modern lossy co...

Re: Audacity interface naming question.

I don't think it's vital the example workflows have their own links so here is my version 5 with the "Impatient" and "Getting Started" links replacing the example workflows. If we want to use more space there, we could link to specific parts of the Quick Guide, though this whole...

Re: phone voice sfx

virtual_c This forum is fine - but "Audio Processing" is probably better - as you are processing the audio after capture (as Audacity cannot apply effects in real tim). Do yourself a favour and upgrade to the latest Beta 1.3.12. Don't be put off by the Beta labelling 1.3 is now a very matu...

Re: Can't get a device in prefs to show for recording in v1.

A member on my senior staff tells me, "digi's problem stems from the fact that not all of the Realtek chips have the "Stereo Mix" hardware at the chip level. New drivers won't help as the hardware doesn't exist or has been disabled." ... isn't that always the problem?... not hav...

Re: Amplify effect not working

The quickest way to select the whole project is to use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+A - or if you just have a single stereo track, just click in the empty part of the Track Control Panel at the left of the track.

The quickest way to select the whole project is to use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+A - or if you just have a single stereo track, just click in the empty part of the Track Control Panel at the left of the track. I set the new peak amplitude to -2.0dB I never check the allow clipping box Glad you like...
