Re: Audacity interface naming question.
Gale and Ed, thanks for your invaluable feedback I have created a new mockup version which attemps to combine the best of V8 and V9 and incorporates the comments you both made in your immediately previous posts. Based on V8 & incorporating feedback from Ed and Gale: 1.consolidated "How Do I...

Re: Reel to reel conversion - old equipment
I also have a ST458 Stellaphone (Philips) tape recorder, bought in 1964, in just about workable condition. With it, I have a five pin to five pin connector, slightly different in size to Midi connections. You should be able to get a five-pin din to 3.5mm stereo minijack cable from a decent hi-fi/au...

Re: Reel to reel conversion - old equipment
Start off with this set of tutorials: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tutorial_-_Copying_tapes,_LPs_or_minidiscs_to_CD Tip 1: use Adacity 1.3.12 and not the ancient 1.2.6 Tip 2: You will need to give that tape deck at the very least a home service (after all that time) - a professional service wo...

Re: Hide Extension
Almost the very first thing taht any sensible Windows user does when firing up a new PC is to reverse the default which hides all file extensions.
I simply can't envisage running a windows system without knowing the extensions of my files.

Re: Audacity interface naming question.
Hi Gale, I like everything that you did in version 7 - and thanks for fixing the layout problem. I have made a few minor tweaks to produce a V8: 1. added a space before the question mark in the "How Do I ?" title. 2. On the "Where and How?" I substituted the question mark for an ...

Re: USB vs. line-in
Potential problem? Quit possibly, such devices can interfere with each other. There was a letter in the Radio Times (or my paper - can't remember which) this week where some lady had long had problems with her TV signal until one day she re-organized her room and moved the base-unit of her transpor...

Re: USB vs. line-in
Keith, it really depends on the quality of the ADC (soundcard) in your ART USB device versus the quality of the soundcard in your computer. In my case my external Edirol is definitely superior to my desktops onboard soundcard - but I don't get static from my USB connections (he says while franticall...

Re: mix-render - one mono panned & mono dup - panned
I thought that was only the case in 1.2.x and that there ist was regarded as a bug. I thought the mute/solo settings were observed as you would expect in 1.3.x - am I wrong?steve wrote:IMPORTANT: Mute/Solo settings are ignored when using Mix and Render.
