Re: Reel to Reel to CD
Please do not double post - it doesn't get your question answered any quicker - and it only annoys folk as it wastes their time. Plus any advice you get is then spread over two disparate threads. I have locked this thread to stop that happening. And I note that Koz has already responded to you on yo...

Re: Project preferences?
On Windows Audacity 1.3.x stores one set of preferences for each user account on the PC. <snip from 1.3 manual> Where are Preferences stored? Starting with version 1.3 Audacity Preferences are stored in a configuration file called audacity.cfg. It is a text file and can be edited with any text edito...

Re: Problem Playing Albums on iPod
Kevin, in which case I'm puzzled. :? I always use "File -> Add Folder to Library ..." to add the WAVs that I make with Audacity (44.1 kHz 16-bit PCM stereo WAVs) to my iTunes library - and it works every time. These WAVs will play fine in iTunes and on my iPods, but I convert them to 256VB...

Re: What is the best HQ settings for saving LPs
The AAC encoder in iTunes only supports 32 and 44.1 kHzsteve wrote:For iPods - Do iPods support 48 kHz sample rate?
But the iTunes MP3 encoder supports rates up to 48 kHz
iTunes 10.1.1.4 (the current version as at today's date)

Re: What is the best HQ settings for saving LPs
I remember facing these tricky decisions a couple of years ago when I got my first iPod. :) Back then I only had a 30gB iPod - after extensive listening tests on good quality equipment I settled on 192kbps as a compromise between storage space and quality - for both my CD rips and my recordings. Wit...

Re: Poor audio quality
Sounds like you had a poor USB connection - and that replugging did the trick. Glad you got it working ok.

Re: Splitting audio sections
I think that if you read the warning message more carefully it will warn you that it will "mix down to two stereo channels ..." which is exactly what you want. A stereo-pair, mixed down on Export.

Re: Poor Quality Sound Recording
@inbox4family: When recording it is not advisable for the waveform to fill the entire avvailable space in display. The normal recommendation is to record at a max. signal level of aboyt 50% or -6.0db (depending on which waveform view you have set on). This should provide you a decent quality signal ...

Re: Submit your EQ Curves
Gale,
I'd certainly be happy to see just the four un-starrred EQ curves retained as a 78s starter pack +1

Re: Submit your EQ Curves
@Peter, I think you said you too thought we should have some 78rpm curves in default Audacity but any views on "which ones" without overloading EQ with them as we tended to do in the past? It's been so long since I've owned any 78s so I'm not really in a position to give informed comment ...
