Re: Audacity vs Asio4All (buffer size)
With my Edirol UA-1EX and on my Windows-XP-HE-SP3 PC (so "your mileage may vary ...") I can go to Start > Settings > Control Panel and my Edirol device driver shows up in the list. Clicking on it brings up a dialog box which facilitates adjustment of the ASIO Audio Buffer Size. WC

Re: Rattled by Audio Chain
No you should not need the UCA-202 - the ART USB Dual Pre USB 1.1 is a combined pre-amp and USB soundcard (the UCA-202 is just a USB soundcard).
The ART device gets good mentions on this board.

Re: Can't Remove Recording Feedback/Hiss
From reading your post it sounds as though you are connecting your turntable both to the PC via the USB connector and to the amp of your music system. That may well be how your hum is occurring. I wouldn't do that - I used to use a USB TT and when I was using the USB=>PC I had the RCA plugs carefull...

Re: Low Stereo Mix input from sound card
If the free PCI cards work well for you I'd be tempted to stick with them :) I use the Edirol UA-1EX made by Roland, it is now superseded but I think some are still available. They have replaced it wuth the Cakewalk UA-1G. There is also a cheaper device which I had on my shortlist which is the Behri...

Re: Low Stereo Mix input from sound card
You were typing just as I was updating so you may not have seen <<And have you tried adjusting the amplitude with the Windows/soundcard Volume Control tool - I normally sit a shortcut to that on my desktops for ease of access?>> And personally I prefer using an external USB soundcard - as it sits ou...

Re: Low Stereo Mix input from sound card
What have you got against using Audacity's Amplify? It woks well, particularly if you leave Audacity in its default 32-bit floating setting. -9 dB seems a plenty fat enough signal to me. I normally try to record to a target of -6.0 dB for capture (to avoid any chance of clipping), do my editing and ...

Re: Problem recording DJ mix
Yes I do mean record them at separate times. Record the first one and press the Stop button. Then record the second one - Audacity will create a second new track for this one. You can than use the Time Shift tool (a little square button with a horizontal black arrow with a head at each end) to slide...

Re: Problem recording vinyl DJ mix
Please don't double post - it only annoys folk and wastes their time - nor does it get your question answered any quicker (I have already responded to your other posting).
I have locked this thread to prevent two different response threads opening up on the same topic.

Re: Problem recording DJ mix
You'd probably find it an awful lot easier to just record both vinyls onto Audacity and let Audacity do the cross-fading in software (rather than do it hardware prior to presenting the mixed signal). Audacity is a multi-track edior that mixes down on export. You will meed to record each vinyl on sep...

Re: Remove Limiting
I can't wait to try it for real. I applied it briefly to piano2.wav and it worked, what was the phrase, as on the tin. I can't shake the idea I'm opening a technological container of biscuits. "I bags the ones with the pink frosting!" Koz Not to a UK reader it doesn't Koz. The phrase &quo...
